Scalp Micropigmentation Aftercare
After a scalp micropigmentation procedure, it is important to follow proper aftercare instructions to ensure the best results. Here are some aftercare guidelines:

1. Avoid scratching or rubbing the treated area: For the first few days after the procedure, avoid scratching or rubbing the treated area, as this can cause the pigments to smear or fade.

2. Keep the scalp clean: Gently use the aftercare provided for a week andd avoid using any products that contain alcohol or fragrances.

3. Avoid exposure to sunlight: Avoid exposing the treated area to direct sunlight or UV light, as this can cause the pigments to fade. Wear a hat or use a high SPF sunscreen when outside.

4. Avoid swimming: Avoid swimming or immersing the treated area in water for the first few days after the procedure.

5. Avoid sweating: Avoid activities that may cause heavy sweating, such as exercising or saunas, for the first few days after the procedure.

6. Avoid alcohol and caffeine: Avoid consuming alcohol and caffeine for the first few days after the procedure, as these substances can increase swelling and redness.

7. Follow-up appointments: Follow any follow-up appointments scheduled by myself performing the procedure, as I may recommend touch-ups or further aftercare instructions. It is important to follow the aftercare instructions provided by myself to ensure the best results and minimize the risk of complications. If you have any concerns, reach out to me for advice.
Is Tattoo Ink Scalp Micropigmentation Ink?

The ink used in scalp micropigmentation and traditional tattooing are similar, but there are some key differences between the two. Scalp micropigmentation ink is specifically designed for use on the scalp and is formulated to mimic the look of natural hair follicles. This type of ink is typically finer in particle size and has a higher pigment concentration than traditional tattoo ink. Additionally, scalp micropigmentation ink is usually applied in smaller, more precise dots, as compared to the larger, more fluid lines used in traditional tattooing.

I use high-quality SMP ink specifically designed for scalp micropigmentation to ensure the best results. I have used many inks in the past 4 years and have found that Blendz Ink is the Richest Black pigment in today’s market.  I believe in that ink so much that the company has reached out to me to become a PRO Team Ambassador for Blendz Ink.  I am able to produce the most natural results with this ink!

How Long Does Scalp Micropigmentation Last?

The longevity of scalp micropigmentation results can vary depending on a number of factors, including skin type, aftercare, and exposure to the sun. On average, scalp micropigmentation results can last for 2-5 years before a touch-up is necessary.

However, some individuals may find that the results last longer, while others may need touch-ups sooner. Proper aftercare, such as avoiding direct sunlight, avoiding harsh hair products, and avoiding excessive sweating, can help to prolong the results of the procedure.

Dry skin clients will require sooner touch ups as it will be harder to retain the ink as the skin tends to shed more.  Thicker scabs of skin flake off which is why it won’t retain as long as oiler skin.  These clients will need to use scalp moisturizers to maintain their scalp micropigmentation results.

What Is the Norwood Scale?

The Norwood scale is a classification system used to describe the stages of male pattern baldness. The Norwood scale ranges from stage 1 to 7 and provides a visual representation of the extent of hair loss in different areas of the scalp. Stage 1 represents minimal hair loss and stage 7 represents severe hair loss. The scale is used by healthcare providers and hair loss specialists to assess the extent of hair loss and to guide treatment decisions, including hair transplantation or scalp micropigmentation.  We also use this scale to help determine the price.

Norwood 1: Early and light hair loss in front of hairline.

Norwood 2: Light to complete hair loss in front fifth of scalp.

Norwood 3: The front quarter of the scalp has light to complete hair loss.

Norwood 4: Light to complete hair loss in the front third to half of top of head, loss of hair in the front and or back of the scalp. Some light hair growth across mid scalp.

Norwood 5: Light to complete loss in front, crown and mid scalp.

Norwood 6: The front, crown, scalp and upper occipital region of the back of the head have moderate to extensive hair loss.

Norwood 7: Extensive hair loss on the top, crown and lower back.

How Far Apart Are Scalp Micropigmentation Sessions?

The intervals between scalp micropigmentation sessions depend on several factors, including the extent of hair loss, the desired results, and the healing time for the individual. Typically, sessions are scheduled 2 to 4 weeks apart to allow for proper healing and to avoid over-saturating the scalp with pigment.

During the first session, I will create a base layer of pigment on the scalp. The subsequent sessions will build on this base layer to create the desired density and color. I will be able to provide a more specific timeline for the sessions based on a thorough evaluation of the individual’s hair loss and desired results.

If you are traveling from another city or country, We can spread 2 sessions 1 week apart.  First session when you arrive and second session just before you leave on a 1 week trip.

Can PRP and Scalp Micropigmentation Go Together?

PRP and scalp micropigmentation can be used together as part of a comprehensive hair loss treatment plan. PRP is typically administered before or after scalp micropigmentation to enhance the results of the procedure.

Scalp micropigmentation can be used to create the appearance of a fuller head of hair and to cover areas of hair loss, while PRP can help to promote the growth of existing hair and improve the overall quality of the hair. The combination of these two services can provide a more comprehensive solution for those experiencing hair loss.

However, it is important to note that the effectiveness of PRP and scalp micropigmentation as a combination service may vary based on the individual’s specific hair loss pattern and overall health.

Can I Get a Hair Transplant After Scalp Micropigmentation?

Yes, it is possible to get a hair transplant after scalp micropigmentation.  Scalp micropigmentation can be used to complement the results of hair transplantation or to cover areas of hair loss that are not suitable for transplantation.

Do I have to shave my head for Scalp Micropigmentation?

Whether or not you need to shave your head for scalp micropigmentation depends on the desired end result and the thickness and length of your existing hair. Some people choose to shave their head completely to achieve the maximum benefit from the procedure, while others opt to keep their hair and have the micropigmentation applied to areas of thinning or baldness.

If you choose to keep your hair, we will work around it to apply the pigments in a way that mimics the appearance of hair follicles.

Ultimately, the decision to shave your head for scalp micropigmentation is a personal one and should be based on your desired end result and comfort level.

Before Having Scalp Micropigmentation
  1. Read reviews and see photos: look at before and after photos to get an idea of the results that can be achieved.
  2. Book a consultation first: Schedule a consultation with me as I specialize in scalp micropigmentation. This is an opportunity to ask questions, discuss your expectations, and determine if the procedure is right for you.
  3. Consider your budget: Scalp micropigmentation can be expensive, so it is important to consider the cost and any financing options that may be available.
  4. Prepare your scalp: If you have long hair, consider trimming it down to a shorter length to better see the areas to be treated. It may also be necessary to shave your head completely to achieve the desired results.
  5. Get a good night’s sleep: Be well-rested and relaxed.
  6. Avoid alcohol and caffeine: Avoid consuming alcohol and caffeine for the first 24 hours  before the procedure, as these will result in poor ink retention.
Is Scalp Micropigmentation Discomforting?

The level of discomfort experienced during a scalp micropigmentation procedure varies from person to person. Some individuals report experiencing only minimal discomfort, while very few may experience medium discomfort.  From experience, my clients average at a level 2 out of 10.

The sensation of the procedure is not as similar to that of getting a tattoo but may cause some discomfort during the final stages of the treatment.

It is important to know that the procedure is not very discomforting.  If you hear otherwise, then that is from an untrained SMP Artist who has not mastered the correct depth.

How Much Does Scalp Micropigmentation Cost?

The cost of scalp micropigmentation can vary greatly depending on several factors, including the experience and location of the professional, the size and extent of the treatment area, and the complexity of the procedure.

RED FLAGS:  If the practitioner does not have a proper working office and only does mobile services then you should stay away.  Scalp Micropigmentation needs to be done in a clean, sterile medical clinic.

In the USA, the cost of scalp micropigmentation can ranges from $2000 to $5000. In the United Kingdom, the cost can range from £1000 to £3,000.  In Canada the cost starts around $1500 – $4500 CAD.  In other countries, the cost may vary similarly based on local market conditions.

This is a very delicate procedure that you don’t want to price shop for the cheapest deal.  Higher prices are usually charged by highly experienced artists.

How Many Sessions Do I Need for Scalp Micropigmentation?
The number of sessions required for scalp micropigmentation depends on the extent of hair loss and the desired results. A full treatment typically involves 2 to 4 sessions, with each session lasting 2 to 4 hours, depending on the size of the treatment area.

In some cases, a single session may be sufficient to achieve the desired results, while in other cases, multiple sessions may be required to build up the desired density and color. I will be able to provide a more accurate estimate of the number of sessions required based on a thorough evaluation of the individual’s hair loss and desired results.
Will Scalp Micropigmentation Make My Hair Grow Back?
No, scalp micropigmentation does not make hair grow back. Scalp micropigmentation is a cosmetic procedure that involves depositing pigment into the scalp to create the appearance of hair follicles and to mimic the look of a shaved or buzzed hairstyle.

While scalp micropigmentation can be an effective solution for those experiencing hair loss, it does not stimulate hair growth or regrow hair.
Can I Get a Hair Transplant Before Scalp Micropigmentation?

Yes, it is possible to get a hair transplant before scalp micropigmentation.
